This is a billing statement that carries a customer's account from the opening balance to the closing balance. The balance brought forward plus the invoices issued this period is what the account stood at before payments; payments received and credit notes issued come off it; the closing balance is what is now due; the change in the balance and the share of the account settled are shown beside it so the trend is visible. Every figure is yours; the statement publishes no payment term and no late fee. Free, on the page, no account; the paid plan sends every statement to the customer under your name.
Opening balance plus invoices is the account before payments
A statement starts where the last one ended: the balance brought forward, plus every invoice issued in the period, is the total the customer was liable for before anything was paid. The statement shows it on its own so a customer disputing the closing figure can see the two parts it came from.
Payments and credits off, the closing balance now due
Payments received in the period and credit notes issued in it come off the account, and what remains is the closing balance now due, the figure the customer pays and the one the next statement opens with. Shown as the largest figure, it is the statement's answer; the paid plan sends it and the reminder when it is not settled.
The movement and the share settled, so the trend is visible
Invoices less payments and credits is the change in the balance this period, up or down, and payments over the account before payments is the share the customer settled. A balance that rises three months running is a customer to call before the fourth. The paid plan keeps every statement against the customer so the run is a column.
Billing statement: common questions
Is this a free billing statement template?
Yes. Enter the opening balance, the invoices issued, the payments received and the credit notes, and it works out the account before payments, the closing balance, the change and the share settled on the page with no account and no card. Print it as it stands. ReceivableLedger Pro adds your business name and sends every statement to the customer.
What is the difference between a billing statement and an invoice?
An invoice is one amount owed for one sale; a statement is the account over a period: the balance brought forward, the invoices, the payments and the credits, to the balance now due. The invoices sit behind the statement, and the paid plan keeps them there so the statement and the invoices always agree.
Can I add a late fee to the statement?
Add it as an invoice for the period, at the rate your terms state and your state allows, so it appears in the invoices issued rather than hidden in the balance. What late fee or interest is lawful on an overdue account is your state's rule and your adviser's; the statement publishes none.
